A LITTLE HAUL

Last weekend I did a little shopping and bought some pretty rad articles of clothing. I also bought a book titled These Things Hidden , which I am sooooo excited to read. I recommend you check it out! Anyway, on to the clothes...

The gorgeous midi skirt. Oh. My. Word. I saw this at the thrift store I was at (Playto's Closet), and I fell head-over-heels in love. Since I'm petite (5'3") I cannot really wear maxi skirts without looking like I'm being swallowed whole by them--so midi skirts are my lifesaver. This particular one is from a brand called "Blue Rain."

The shorts. Now, when I bought these I wasn't 100% sure on if they were a swimsuit type of shorts or a "wear-whenever-you-feel-like" type of shorts. I'm going to wear them as the latter. I've been looking for a pair of shorts that have a sort of fringe on the bottom and I found them! They are from a brand called "Steezyer."

The trousers. I actually bought these awhile back, but I haven't had the chance to wear them yet. I really like the simple daisy-esque design, and they are very comfortable. I can't wait to style these once it gets warmer here! They are from Target.

THE KIMONO. *Insert Shannon Stewart voice* OH MY WORD. I saw this on the website for Romwe and just about flung myself through my laptop screen I loved it so much. I honestly don't even know what to say about it; it is perfection. I know the picture doesn't really do it justice, but if you are looking for a really cheap and wonderful kimono, BUY THIS ONE!

WHY I BECAME VEGAN

These past couple of months have been...difficult in a sense for me. I’ve been very stressed with school and my upcoming high school graduation (I seem to always be saying I’m stressed, but hey-- I’m pretty much always stressed. I’ve also been struggling with my body. This is my first time actually saying this, but I’ve become unhealthy in the past couple of months (very, very unhealthy), and I acknowledged that it was time to make a change and get my body healthy again. I wanted to make a change and I thought to the vegan lifestyle. I’ve been doing research/ looking into the vegan/ vegetarian lifestyle for awhile now, and I eventually decided (last weekend actually) that it would be a good change in order for me to become healthy and save the environment and animals in the process.

Now, to tell you the truth, it has been hard so far. Since I am coming from a past of severe calorie restriction it’s difficult for me to stop listening to those thoughts and eat the right amount of food for my body. I know the food I am putting into my body is incredibly good and healthy for me and will only provide my body with energy. I am slowly starting to have a good relationship with food again.

The most common question I’ve been asked since informing my family of my decision is, “Where will you get your protein?” News flash people: PROTEIN DOES NOT ONLY COME FROM ANIMAL PRODUCTS!! People have been misinformed about the amount of protein you need in a day and in fact, too much protein can actually be harmful to your health. Some great sources of protein for vegans are:
  • legumes
  • beans (kidney beans, black beans, chickpeas/ garbanzo beans)
  • greens (spinach, kale, spirulina, broccoli)
  • whole grains
  • rice/ quinoa
  • tofu
  • peanut butter/ pb2/ nut butters

I’ll link some videos/ posts I’ve read that have helped me in my decision to become vegan or that have given me information about the vegan lifestyle/ I encourage everyone to become vegan! You will have so much more energy and save the lives of innocent animals in the process.

SHOE WISHLIST

SHOE WISHLIST

ASOS / ZARA / ASOS

I was sitting in my living room today and I thought, "Why not make a shoe wishlist?" I'm kind of in need of new shoes. Actually, not really. I just really want some new ones. I'm drooling over my laptop as I post this (kidding, heh..). I love every single one of these shoes, and it is taking a lot of self-control on my part not to add them to "my cart." I'm going to be keeping my eye on these bad boys until they go on sale (or I'm able to afford them without hurting my wallet!).

HAUL & CHRISTMAS

* = Christmas present
(Links to pieces are under picture)

Long time no see! I know its been forever since I've made a post. I'm so sorry! I really don't have an excuse, but I'm going to start posting more often. I hope you all had a good Christmas, I know I did. The photos marked with an "*" are all gifts I received for Christmas. I really love the diamond and popsicle print blouses that I got from my mother. I usually don't wear pieces that have that much pattern on them, but they caught my eye while I was online shopping so I added them to my list!

My favorite presents I got this year are my Marc Jacobs wallet, the Harry Potter mug, and the Star Wars bracelet. My mom completely surprised me with these three things and I absolutely love them. The Harry Potter mug is totally unique; when you add any hot liquid to it the text changed to "Mischief Managed." I am a huuuuuuuge HP fan, so this was the perfect gift. I also love my SW bracelet.  am a massive fan SW fan (I love too many things haha) and was pleasantly surprised to see this. It's a charm bracelet, so you can buy different charms to put on it. My mom bought the charm that says "May the force be with you" and the next day I went out and bought the blue, R2-D2 looking one. Right now i have my eye on the Darth Vader one and I'm pretty sure there's a BB-8 one out there somewhere.

Hope you are all having a lovely winter!

A LITTLE HAUL

I got these books over the course of the past two weeks. I've already read Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me and One Last Thing Before I Go. I really, really liked both of them (I finished them both in four days). I've been a huge fan of Mindy Kaling ever since I watched The Office (one of my favorite TV shows!) and I read Tropper's other book and I really enjoyed it. I've been wanting to read I Am Malala and Dark Places for awhile now so I decided to pick them up. I went to Walmart last night because I wanted to get The Girl on the Train, but they didn't have it. I was pretty upset haha. Helter Skelter is a book I have been interested in reading for quite some time. I, not in a weird way whatsoever, find learning about cults really interesting. My dad knew I've been wanting to read this so he bought it for me.

I bought these boots last weekend from Playto's Closet for only $8! I've been needing a new pair of biker boots, seeing as though my old pair have literally fallen apart. They are a really good quality of material and I've been happy with them so far. I got these socks yesterday from Maurices and they're having deal on socks & tights right now, if you're interested.

LAST REQUEST

Skirt- Thrifted
Denim Shirt- Target
Boots- Boohoo

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile! I've been extremely busy with school (some of my finals have already started)! I've had this post archived for quite some time now and I've just gotten around to posting it. I've been loving denim shirts recently so I bought this one awhile back and I love it! I love the denim-on-denim, Canadian tuxedo look and I plan on wearing this shirt with a pair of dark wash jeans. Life will be hectic for me in the near future, so please forgive me if my posts are that consistent!

CRISP

Shirt- Similar , Jeans- Forever21, Boots- Boohoo

This was a spur-of-the-moment outfit. I actually really like how it turned out, though. It's a very classic, easy outfit to put together. My mom has a subscription to Birchbox and she was sent this awhile ago. She doesn't wear lipsticks, so she gave this one to me. I'll admit, I don't normally wear lip products. I got off of Accutane a little over 3(?) months ago and my lips still get very dry, very easily. This is an amazing lip product though! It smells heavenly and stays on for quite awhile; if you're looking for a good red lipstick I recommend this one!

The weather has been having a moment so far this week. It's November 3rd and it was 70 degrees out today! I'm not a fan- I would rather it be a little more on the chilly side. On another note, I watched Star Wars for the first time over the weekend (I don't know why it's taken me this long-honestly) and I LOVED it!! I'm going to have to watch the others before the new one comes out in December. I also watched five movies over the weekend with my mom and I would recommend most of them. Insidious: Chapter 3 (not very good in my opinion), The Final Girls (loved it! Mostly because I'm a huge fan of most of the actors in it haha), The Gift (huuuge Jason Bateman fan over here! This one was pretty good), Ashby (I love, love, love Emma Roberts, and the movie), and Manson Family Vacation (this one won't be everyone's cup of tea- but I found it funny and really enjoyed it).
